Toyota resumes RI production<\/p>\n
TOKYO (Reuters): Toyota Motor Corp said its Indonesian car
\nplants resumed production yesterday.<\/p>\n
The plants stopped output on May 14 due to riots in the
\ncountry.<\/p>\n
PT Toyota-Astra Motor, owned 51 percent by conglomerate PT
\nAstra International and 49 percent by Toyota, resumed car
\nproduction at its plants in Karawang, West Java, and Sunter, a
\nToyota spokesman said.<\/p>\n
Production at the two plants, which have a total work force of
\n6,000, stood at 2,138 vehicles in April, one-third of the
\nprevious year's output, he said.<\/p>\n
Honda Motor Co Ltd is scheduled to resume production at its
\nmotorcycle and engine plants in Indonesia yesterday, a Honda
\nspokesman said.<\/p>\n
Mitsubishi Motors Corp suspended vehicle production at its
\nIndonesian unit in April due to a slump in the Southeast Asian
\ncar market. It has not decided yet whether to resume output in
\nJune, a Mitsubishi spokesman said.<\/p>\n
Isuzu Motors has also not decided when it will resume output
\nat its Indonesian plant, an Isuzu spokesman said.<\/p>",
