        "content": "<p>Tourist guides may be regulated<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Travel agencies are requesting that guides,<br>\nparticularly those involved in ecotourism trips, carry permits.<\/p>\n<p>This measure would increase the credibility of the activities<br>\noffered for domestic and foreign tourists, besides the<br>\ncredibility of the travel agencies themselves, an official of the<br>\nCity Tourism Agency said.<\/p>\n<p>Parlindungan Hutabarat said yesterday that the requirement<br>\nthat guides be licensed was already a policy of the Ministry of<br>\nPost, Tourism and Telecommunications.<\/p>\n<p>He conveyed the expectations of the travel agencies after the<br>\nopening of a two-week training session for guides, held by the<br>\nagency and a number of nature lovers' organizations.<\/p>\n<p>Guides, he said, should come from these nature organizations,<br>\nwhich he said number 150 in the city, along with some 10,000<br>\ninformal nature lover groups.<\/p>\n<p>The training, focusing on potential tourism spots in Lampung,<br>\nWest Java, Jakarta, Central Java and Yogyakarta, was opened by<br>\nthe head of the agency, Fauzi Bowo.
