Tourist drowns at Kuta beach<\/p>\n
DENPASAR, Bali: A 48-year-old Danish tourist drowned at Kuta
\nbeach near here on Sunday while swimming in the strong waves at
\none of the world's most popular beaches.<\/p>\n
Head of Antarbangsa service bureau, Gus Sumastra, on Monday
\nsaid that Leif Poulsen was washed out by the current, which was
\nstrong at the time.<\/p>\n
\"His body is still at the morgue of Denpasar General
\nHospital,\" Gus said.<\/p>\n
The strong waves, he said, suddenly hit the foreign tourist
\nand carried him away.<\/p>\n
According to Gus, local life savers attempted to save Poulsen
\nbut could not.<\/p>\n
\"We have contacted the Danish Embassy in Jakarta to find out
\nwhether the body will be cremated here or sent to Denmark,\" he
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
In April, two foreign tourists were found dead in Bali and
\ntheir bodies were sent to home at the request of their families,
\nhe explained.<\/p>\n
Data from Bali regional police revealed that as many as 42
\nforeign tourists died in Bali last year. The number was 48 the
\nprevious year.<\/p>\n
Most of these deaths were from drowning in the sea. Some were
\nalso caused by traffic accidents and illnesses, Antara reported.<\/p>",
