Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Tourism Ministry is seeking to optimise the\ndevelopment of special-interest tourism services in the music sector by\nsupporting the organisation of music performances.<\/p>\n
\u201cA concert has an extraordinary economic impact for the Indonesian\npeople. So at the Tourism Ministry, we have a programme under the Deputy\nfor Events,\u201d said Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana during a\npress conference in Jakarta on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis year we are supporting 206 events across Indonesia, including\nregional events, national events, international events and MICE,\u201d she\nsaid.<\/p>\n
To illustrate the economic potential of hosting music concerts, she\nnoted that the 2023 Coldplay concert generated an economic impact valued\nat up to 75 million US dollars, or approximately Rp1.1 trillion.<\/p>\n
She said that the concerts by Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli in\nIndonesia in October and November 2026 could also deliver significant\neconomic benefits.<\/p>\n
Andrea Bocelli is scheduled to perform at the Borobudur Temple\ncomplex in Magelang, Central Java, on 31 October 2026, and at the\nJakarta International Expo (JIEXPO) in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, on 3\nNovember 2026, as part of his \u201cRomanza 30th Anniversary World Tour\u201d in\nIndonesia.<\/p>\n
Widiyanti estimated that the Andrea Bocelli concerts at Borobudur and\nJIEXPO could each attract up to 7,000 and 9,000 spectators respectively,\nand generate economic benefits worth 44 million US dollars, or around\nRp792 billion.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd with the presence of over-the-top services on Apple TV or\nNetflix, this will also increase the visibility of Indonesian\ndestinations, particularly Borobudur, around the world,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The Tourism Ministry is also coordinating with relevant ministries\nand agencies to ease visa processing for foreign artists performing in\nIndonesia, simplify concert permit procedures and the shipment of\nconcert logistics, and support concert promotion on the Indonesia.travel\nchannel.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe also have social media and videotrons. But we will also promote\nthrough mass media and provide information to all Indonesian embassies\naround the world to promote this event,\u201d she said, referring to the\nAndrea Bocelli concert.<\/p>\n
In addition, according to her, the Tourism Ministry is collaborating\nwith travel service providers and tour operators to offer tourism\npackages that include attending music concerts.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will create several tourism packages together with travel agents\nand tour operators. So that tourists coming from other cities or from\nabroad can travel to enjoy tourist destinations around Borobudur in\naddition to watching the concert,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
