        "content": "<p>Tourism growth in Asia<\/p>\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): China will spearhead Asia&apos;s huge tourism<br>\ngrowth over the next six years, followed by India and Indonesia,<br>\na senior official of Visa International said yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Asia&apos;s meteoric economic growth and rising affluence will<br>\nmake it the fastest growing travel market in the 1990s and the<br>\ngrowth will come from within the region with China as the next<br>\nmajor travel generating country,&quot; said Francis Hsu, Visa&apos;s travel<br>\nmarketing director of the Asia Pacific.<\/p>\n<p>Asia&apos;s travel industry up to the year 2000 would be under-<br>\npinned by intra-regional growth, Hsu said in a statement,<br>\nreleased in conjunction with Visa&apos;s recent annual &quot;Travel Think<br>\nTank&quot; held in Kuala Lumpur.<\/p>\n<p>The annual gathering of travel experts, which was initiated in<br>\n1992 in Hong Kong, is scheduled to be held in Bangkok next year.<\/p>\n<p>The Visa statement said the recent gathering highlighted the<br>\nneed for better coordination between national tourism<br>\norganizations and other industry components to woo more tourists<br>\nto the region.<\/p>\n<p>There should also be greater coordination in promotions among<br>\nairlines, hotel and travel agents to successfully market a<br>\ndestination, it said.<\/p>",
