Tough measures for criminals<\/p>\n

Violent robberies have been on the increase recently,
\nparticularly in the developing areas like Bogor, Tangerang and
\nBekasi. The robbers, usually in groups of three to eight, do not
\nhesitate to resort to violence whenever their victims resist.<\/p>\n
This development is a concern to the local community as the
\npeople always feel haunted and uneasy. They don't mind losing
\ntheir material belongings, but what they fear most is the
\nmurderous nature of the robbers. We read of these crimes in the
\nmedia almost every day.<\/p>\n
The bandits have become increasingly bold and brutal in their
\nactions -- they do not only rob individuals but also burgle
\noffices. In Bogor, criminals fled with Rp 20 million in cash from
\nthe police station. A gang also killed the security guards at a
\nCoca-Cola warehouse and absconded with a large amount of money.<\/p>\n
Due to the brutal nature of these crimes, I appeal to the
\nauthorities to readopt the "shoot on sight" measure. While I
\nrealize this is a rather emotionally charged issue, I believe it
\nwill be beneficial in making our streets safe again.<\/p>\n
