—Standard microcontrollers supporting diverse system control
applications for consumer products and industrial equipment—

Kawasaki, Japan–(ANTARA/Business Wire)– Toshiba Electronic Devices
& Storage Corporation (Toshiba) has announced the entry-level TXZ+™
M4H family of standard microcontrollers[1], equipped with an Arm®
Cortex®-M4 core featuring a Floating-Point Unit (FPU). The new
microcontrollers are designed for small-scale system control in consumer
products such as air conditioners and washing machines, as well as
industrial equipment including multifunction printers and factory
automation systems. Toshiba is now providing engineering samples of the
new product.

As consumer and industrial products become increasingly sophisticated
and diverse, system control microcontrollers must offer enhanced
real-time capabilities and stability, simplify design processes, provide
versatility for long-term operation, and maintain flexibility for
derivative product development. Toshiba has addressed these challenges
with the TXZ+™ M4H entry-level family for system control applications,
emphasising flexibility.

Designed as an entry-level product, the microcontrollers feature an
Arm® Cortex®-M4 core with FPU and a maximum operating frequency of 120
MHz, delivering the computational performance and responsiveness
required for consumer and industrial products, while handling core
system control applications such as logic control, interface processing,
and timing control.

The M4H family supports a supply voltage range of 2.7 V to 5.5 V, and
its integrated high-speed oscillator with ±1% accuracy reduces the need
for external components, enhancing design flexibility. These
characteristics make it suitable for consumer and industrial products
operating on 5 V power supplies.

The microcontrollers also include essential peripheral functions for
system control, such as a 12-bit Analogue-to-Digital Converter (ADC),
timers, Universal Synchronous Receiver/Transmitter (UART), Serial
Peripheral Interface (SPI), Inter-Integrated Circuit (I²C[2]), and
Direct Memory Access (DMA[3]). An additional feature is the Advanced
Programmable Motor Driver (A-PMD), which supports brushless DC motor
control, ensuring application-specific flexibility and system
configuration adaptability.

Toshiba supports device evaluation and review processes by providing
engineering samples and development environments. The company also
facilitates the smooth transition from initial evaluation to application
development through starter kits, sample software, CMSIS[4]-compatible
drivers, and support for major Integrated Development Environments
(IDEs[5]).

Toshiba will continue to expand these support resources, including
documentation, and further strengthen its microcontroller portfolio to
meet diverse needs.

Applications

System control units for home appliances and consumer
devices

Industrial equipment and factory automation (FA) systems

Office and commercial equipment

Features

Arm® Cortex®-M4 core with FPU operating at up to 120 MHz

Supply voltage range: 2.7 V to 5.5 V

Internal memory

Code flash: 256 KB

RAM: 18 KB

Built-in self-diagnosis for functional safety

Three package types available to suit mounting area and assembly
conditions

",
