        "content": "<p>In line with directives from the Navy Chief of Staff emphasising that\nthe Indonesian Navy and its units are committed to protecting every inch\nof NTB\u2019s maritime sovereignty and security, Lanal Mataram is dedicated\nto safeguarding NTB\u2019s territorial waters from all forms of threats and\nsecurity disturbances following the discovery of a torpedo-like object.\n\u201cIn accordance with the Navy Chief of Staff\u2019s directives emphasising\nthat the Indonesian Navy and its units are committed to protecting every\ninch of NTB\u2019s maritime sovereignty and security,\u201d said Lanal Mataram\nCommander Colonel Laut (P) Asep Tri Prabowo in Mataram on Wednesday. The\nstatement was made in response to the finding of a foreign object\nresembling a torpedo by a fisherman floating in the waters of Gili\nTrawangan, North Lombok Regency, on Monday (6\/4). He emphasised that\nLanal Mataram will not tolerate unauthorised activities in NTB\u2019s\nterritorial waters, including the use of underwater devices for\nnon-essential purposes. \u201cAll tourism activities, academic interests,\neverything must be based on permits, which are issued by the Ministry of\nDefence,\u201d he said. Regarding the torpedo-like object discovery, Asep\nurged the public to remain calm and not be swayed by unverified rumours.\n\u201cStay calm, do not speculate, continue activities as usual, and\nimmediately report any anomalies or foreign objects that could endanger\nnavigation and other matters,\u201d he stated. He mentioned that the foreign\nobject, resembling a torpedo, measuring about 3.7 metres in length, 65\ncentimetres in diameter, and weighing around 2 tonnes, has been secured.\n\u201cThe object has been secured at Lanal Mataram under strict supervision\nby the military police under Lanal Mataram,\u201d he said. \u201cFrom the initial\ninvestigation by the Gegana police unit, the item does not contain\nradioactive materials or explosives,\u201d Asep added. The foreign object was\nfirst discovered by a fisherman named Harianto (28) floating in the\nwaters north of Gili Trawangan, approximately 10 nautical miles from the\nshoreline.
