Top posts at KONI nearly filled<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The electoral board of the National Sports
\nCouncil (KONI) has almost completed drawing up the lineup of the
\nnew KONI leadership board, with just eight persons waiting for
\ntheir deserved posts.<\/p>\n
Outgoing KONI Secretary General Kahpi Suriadiredja told
\nreporters after a meeting yesterday with his hot-favored
\npredecessor Rudolf Warouw that the eight candidates had yet to
\ngive their nods to the posts offered to them.<\/p>\n
The board of three was scheduled to report its proposed lineup
\nto Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Hayono Isman yesterday,
\nhad it finished its job.<\/p>\n
The national congress, held by KONI last month, set a Feb. 25
\ndeadline for the board to complete picking up personnel for
\nKONI's top jobs. The congress also stipulated that the number of
\nthe posts should be more than 15 but not more than 25.<\/p>\n
The newly elected KONI chairman Gen. (ret) Wismoyo
\nArismunandar leads the board, which also comprises Warouw and
\nHendropriyono. Warouw was reportedly given the Secretary General
\npost. Hendropriyono, who holds both the Indonesian Judo
\nAssociation and the Indonesian Professional Boxing Commission,
\nwas named KONI Training and Development director.<\/p>\n
Warouw refused to make any confirmation. \"Please, don't force
\nme to speak. I haven't formally taken office yet,\" Warouw was
\nquoted by a KONI spokesman.<\/p>\n
Kahpi said new faces would dominate the new KONI leadership
\nboard. \"It is precisely in accordance with what the congress
\nwishes to see,\" Kahpi said, a former National Marine commander
\nwho served his four-year term under former KONI president
\nSurono's tenure.<\/p>\n
A source close to Wismoyo said that the former Army Chief of
\nStaff has already named those who held key positions during last
\nmonth's congress his assistants. \"Mohammad Sarengat is among the
\nnew KONI top officials,\" Nazaruddin Majid said. He failed to
\ndisclose the post given to the former Asian 100m sprint record
\nholder.<\/p>\n
Other figures include Sri Hastuti Mardiko from the Indonesian
\nGymnastics Association and Iwan Setiawan of the Badminton
\nAssociation of Indonesia.<\/p>\n
Majid had said earlier that Wismoyo will announce his staff no
\nlater than Feb. 22.<\/p>\n
Wismoyo is scheduled to attend a fast break get-together with
\nSurono on Monday, during which Wismoyo will informally report the
