Da'i Bachtiar visited<br>\non Saturday the district court in Jayapura where last week Papua<br>\nPolice officers clashed with separatist supporters.<\/p>\n<p>The four-star general said his visit was aimed at gathering<br>\nfirst-hand information on what really happened during the violent<br>\nincident last Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The clash occurred in front of the Jayapura District Court<br>\nafter some 100 separatist supporters began hurling stones after<br>\npolice officers prevented alleged separatist leaders on trial at<br>\nthe court from addressing the crowd.<\/p>\n<p>The clash took place after the district court held a session<br>\nin the trial of alleged separatist leaders Philep Karma and Yusak<br>\nPakage. Dozens of people, including 10 police officers, were<br>\ninjured during the violence.<\/p>\n<p>Police are investigating the incident and two senior police<br>\nofficers have been replaced and nine low-ranking officers have<br>\nbeen named as suspects in the case. -- JP<\/p>",
