        "content": "<p>Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral\nResources (ESDM) records that converting to electric vehicles (EVs) can\nsave up to 267 litres of fuel oil (BBM) usage per year. Not only that,\nconversion to electric vehicles can also reduce the fuel subsidy or\ncompensation burden by around Rp500,000 per unit per year. The Special\nStaff to the Minister of ESDM for Strategic Planning, Jisman P Hutajulu,\nstated that the government has actually been implementing a conversion\nprogramme from fuel vehicles to electric vehicles since 2023 to 2024,\nreaching a total of 2,250 vehicles. Moving forward, the Ministry of ESDM\nis preparing a follow-up scheme so that this electric vehicle conversion\nprogramme can be expanded. Because, in its calculations, converting fuel\nvehicles and electric vehicles can save both from the consumer side and\nthe state. \u201cBased on our calculations, each converted vehicle unit can\nsave fuel consumption by up to 267 litres per year and reduce the\nsubsidy or compensation burden for BBM by around Rp500,000 per unit per\nyear,\u201d explained Jisman at the EV Transition in Mining Industry Outlook\n2026, held by CNBC Indonesia on Wednesday (29\/4\/2026). Jisman also\nmentioned that the Ministry of ESDM is trying to benchmark EVs\nspecifically for vehicles. As is known, the countries that have been\nmost successful in conversion so far are Norway and China, so Indonesia\nneeds to look at the successes in those countries. \u201cOnce the policy is\nissued and effective, the growth of electric vehicles will be linear for\n5 to 6 years. Then after 6 or 5 years, it will be exponential,\u201d \u201cSo in\nIndonesia, this year we might already enter the exponential phase.
