        "content": "<p>Too lenient on embezzlers<\/p>\n<p>From Kompas<\/p>\n<p>It was disappointing to read in Kompas (June 23) that the<br>\nthree former executive directors of Bank Indonesia found guilty<br>\nin a corruption case were only sentenced to 1.5 years in prison<br>\nby the Supreme Court justices who heard their appeal.<\/p>\n<p>The decision was very unfair because the executives inflicted<br>\nlosses on the state of Rp 6 trillion (Heru Supraptomo), Rp 9<br>\ntrillion (Hendro Budiyanto) and Rp 2 trillion (Paul Sutopo).<\/p>\n<p>By comparison, a convicted petty thief can expect at least six<br>\nyears in jail. If only I had the chance to embezzle as much as<br>\nthose in the Bank Indonesia case, I would do that rather than<br>\nsteal a chicken.
