        "content": "<p>The Tomohon City Government in North Sulawesi has prohibited the\npublic from carrying out climbing activities on Mount Lokon and its\nsurroundings to prevent forest and land fires (karhutla).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are informing the public regarding the ban on climbing activities\non Mount Lokon and its surroundings in accordance with recommendations\nfrom the Centre for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG)\nand the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA),\u201d said Tomohon\nCity Regional Secretary Edwin Roring in an advisory letter on the\nimpacts of the dry season in Tomohon on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The ban on climbing activities in the Mount Lokon area and its\nsurroundings is intended to anticipate forest and land fires and for the\nsafety of residents carrying out climbing activities.<\/p>\n<p>Other advisories to anticipate the impacts of the dry season in the\nregion include urging the public not to open or clear land by burning,\nparticularly in plantation areas.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the public is reminded to ensure that all electrical\nequipment is in safe condition, not left connected to the power supply\nwhen unattended, and to replace electrical installations or components\nthat are no longer fit for use in accordance with safety standards.<\/p>\n<p>The Tomohon City Government is encouraging the public to use water\nwisely in order to anticipate potential drought, and to promptly report\nto officials if leaks are found in water networks or pipes.<\/p>\n<p>The advisory letter also instructs sub-district officials, community\nprotection units (linmas), and coordination with the Civil Service\nPolice Unit\/Fire Department (Satpol PP\/Damkar), the Regional Disaster\nManagement Agency (BPBD), the Environmental Agency (DLH), Babinsa, and\nBhabinkamtibmas to increase supervision and monitoring of the area\nthrough regular integrated patrols.<\/p>\n<p>The letter refers to an advisory from the Meteorology, Climatology\nand Geophysics Agency (BMKG) North Sulawesi Climatology Station\nregarding anticipation of the dry season.<\/p>",
