Tommy's murder plan exposed<\/p>\n

Hutomo "Tommy" Mandala Putra once planned to kill M. Syafiuddin
\nKartasasmita himself, according to the indictment presented to
\nthe Central Jakarta District Court on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Tommy was found guilty of corruption by Syafiuddin in October
\n2000 but it was not until mid 2001 that Tommy started to plan the
\nmurder, it said.<\/p>\n
In June 2001, Tommy asked his friends, Dedi S. Yusuf and Dody
\nHardjito, to survey Syafiuddin's house in Cipayung, East Jakarta.
\nLater in the same month, Tommy obtained diagrams of Syafiuddin's
\naddress and of the homes of the two other justices who convicted
\nhim.<\/p>\n
The defendant then met Dody several times to discuss the
\nmurder plan.<\/p>\n
"Wanna be rich?" he asked. Dody refused as it was dangerous.<\/p>\n
"Why are you afraid? Just give me a ride, I will do the
\nshooting," he said.<\/p>\n
Dody still refused and introduced Tommy to Maulawarman, who
\nagreed to drive Tommy.<\/p>\n
Mid in July Dody told Maulawarman that Tommy wanted to hire
\nanother man to help carry out the murder plan.<\/p>\n
Maulawarman told Dody that Noval Hadad would do the job for Rp
\n100 million.<\/p>\n
On the same day, Dody gave Maulawarman US$10,000.<\/p>\n
On July 18, the defendant showed Maulawarman seven guns and
\ntaught him how to use one of them.<\/p>\n
On July 19, Tommy and Maulawarman went to Cipayung on a
\nmotorcycle, but after arriving near Syafiuddin's house, Tommy
\ncanceled the plan to shoot the judge because there were many
\npeople around.<\/p>\n
Tommy later learned that Syafiuddin did not stay in Cipayung,
\nbut in Kemayoran, North Jakarta.<\/p>\n
On July 25, Tommy showed Maulawarman the address of
\nSyafiuddin's house on the map, and gave him two guns.<\/p>\n
The following day, Maulawarman rode a motorcycle with Noval in
\nthe passengers' seat. They followed Syafiuddin from his house and
\nNoval shot him dead on his way to work.<\/p>",
