'Tommy gave me bombs': Suspect<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Police revealed on Sunday that a woman arrested
\nhere on Friday in the possession of three bombs, admitted that
\nnot only did Hutomo \"Tommy\" Mandala Putra, the fugitive son of
\nformer president Soeharto, give her the bombs, but also taught
\nher how to operate them.<\/p>\n
East Jakarta Police chief of detectives Adj. Comr. Agus
\nIrianto told The Jakarta Post that 33-year-old Elize Maria
\nTuwahatu, alias Baby, revealed that she learned about each bomb
\ncomponent and how it worked from Tommy in a 40-minute car ride
\naround the Menteng area, Central Jakarta, last Sunday.<\/p>\n
\"From the information she has provided us with, he is
\ndefinitely still in Jakarta,\" Agus said.<\/p>\n
National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Saleh Saaf told reporters
\non Saturday that, based on their preliminary investigation, there
\nare some similarities between the bombs found in the possession
\nof Elize, who was arrested in Taman Mini Indonesian Indah (TMII)
\nrecreation park in East Jakarta, and those which exploded on
\nChristmas Eve.<\/p>\n
Saleh said Elize admitted to meeting with Tommy, who has been
\nin hiding for three months, on Jl. Cilacap in Central Jakarta on
\nJan. 14.<\/p>\n
He said Elize, accompanied by an acquaintance, Lisa, arrived
\nat the meeting in a Timor sedan to receive the bombs and three
\nchecks for Rp 25 million (US$2,632) each from Tommy, who arrived
\nin a Kijang van.<\/p>\n
Elize said she cashed the checks carrying Tommy's name and
\nsignature, at two separate banks the following day, Saleh said.<\/p>\n
\"At that time, Tommy's accounts had not yet been frozen. We
\nwill check with the banks on Monday.\"<\/p>\n
Attorney General Marzuki Darusman said on Friday all of
\nTommy's accounts at Indonesian banks had been frozen by the
\ncentral bank.<\/p>\n
Police also took into custody Elize's mother Sonya and her
\ndriver, following a raid on her house on Jl. Suwiryo in Menteng,
\nlocated near houses belonging to the Soeharto family.<\/p>\n
During the raid, police seized firecrackers and documents that
\nSaleh said might lead to an investigation into Tommy's possible
\ninvolvement in the Christmas Eve bombings in seven cities,
\nincluding Jakarta, that claimed at least 18 lives.<\/p>\n
President Abdurrahman Wahid ordered Tommy's arrest for his
\nalleged role in the bomb blast at the Jakarta Stock Exchange
\nbuilding in September last year. Tommy, 38, denied he was
\ninvolved in the bombing and was never arrested.<\/p>\n
Tommy was later sentenced to 18 months in prison for graft.<\/p>\n
The police said each of the three bombs seized on Friday were
\ndestined for three separate locations: the Attorney General's
\nOffice on Jl. Sisingamangaraja, and the Ministry of Industry and
\nTrade and the Directorate General of Taxation on Jl. Gatot
\nSubroto, all in South Jakarta.<\/p>\n
According to the police investigation of the TMII bombs, one
\nof the plastic bags contained seven sticks of dynamite weighing a
\ntotal of 2.1 kilograms, a five-liter can of thinners, a switch, a
\ndry cell, two detonators and 150 nails.<\/p>\n
The other bag contained two packages. One contained eight
\nsticks of dynamite, a can of thinners, a watch that functioned as
\na switch, a dry cell, a detonator and steel nails. The other
\ncontained two sticks of TNT, a watch that functioned as a switch,
\nand a dry cell.<\/p>\n
A source close to an independent team investigating the
\nChristmas Eve bombings said on Friday that Elize bore a
\nresemblance to a woman described by witnesses, who is believed to
\nhave planted a bomb at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Matraman,
\nEast Jakarta.<\/p>\n
Police have arrested six people in connection with the bomb
\nattacks.<\/p>\n
Psychic<\/p>\n
Saleh said the arrest of Elize was made based on information
\nprovided by a psychic identified as Agung Yulianto, alias Ki Joko
\nBodo.<\/p>\n
Police sources said Ki Joko, a resident of Lubang Buaya, East
\nJakarta, was approached by Elize four days before her arrest.<\/p>\n
\"Elize told me that if I succeeded in demolishing the three
\nbuildings on Friday afternoon, she would introduce me to Tommy,
\nwho would hand me Rp 1 billion as my payment, and award me with
\nmany more bombing contracts,\" the source said, quoting Joko's
\nstatements to the police in the dossiers.<\/p>\n
Ki Joko, who claims to be one of dozens of psychics used by
\nSoeharto, told his friends, including a police officer, of
\nElize's offer.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile in Bandung, West Java, police officially named on
\nSaturday six new suspects in the Christmas Eve bombings,
\nidentified only as NA, AH, YAY, NAN, ODC and KAR, provincial
\npolice detective chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Sardjono said.<\/p>\n
The six men knew exactly where and what Haji Aceng and Iqbal,
\nthe two main suspects in this case, were doing at that time and
