        "content": "<p>Three defendants in the alleged corruption case concerning the\nprocurement of Chromebook-based laptops will face a hearing for the\nreading of the prosecution demands on Thursday (16 April 2026)\ntoday.<\/p>\n<p>They are Ibrahim Arief, former technology consultant for the Ministry\nof Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek),\nMulyatsyah, former Director of Junior Secondary Schools at\nKemendikbudristek, and Sri Wahyuningsih, former Director of Primary\nSchools at Kemendikbudristek.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThursday, 16 April 2026, Agenda for prosecution,\u201d states the Central\nJakarta District Court Case Search Information System (SIPP PN Jakpus),\non Wednesday (15 April 2026).<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the three defendants above, former Minister of\nEducation, Culture, Research, and Technology Nadiem Makarim is also\ncharged in this case, but he is undergoing a separate trial under a\ndifferent case number.<\/p>\n<p>The calculation of state losses is divided into two components: the\nprocurement of Chromebook-based laptops and the procurement of Chrome\nDevice Management (CDM).<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors assess that the CDM procurement harmed the state because\nit was unnecessary and not required for the Kemendikbudristek Digital\nEducation Programme at the time.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the Chromebook procurement process is deemed problematic\ndue to the lack of proper feasibility studies.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Nadiem is charged with enriching himself by Rp 809.5\nbillion in the alleged corruption case involving the procurement of\nChromebook-based laptops.<\/p>\n<p>Nadiem is considered to have abused his authority by directing the\nprocurement specifications to make Google the sole controller of\nIndonesia\u2019s education ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat the defendant Nadiem Anwar Makarim has abused his position by\ndirecting the Chromebook laptop specifications to use Chrome Device\nManagement (CDM)\/Chrome Education Upgrade, thereby making Google the\nsole entity controlling Indonesia\u2019s education ecosystem,\u201d the prosecutor\ncontinued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe source of funds for PT AKAB is largely from Google\u2019s total\ninvestment in PT AKAB amounting to US$786,999,428. This can be seen from\nthe wealth of defendant Nadiem Anwar Makarim recorded in the 2022 LHKPN,\nwith asset gains in securities worth Rp 5,590,317,273,184,\u201d stated the\nprosecutor.<\/p>\n<p>Nadiem and the other defendants are considered to have violated\nArticle 2 Paragraph (1) and Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of\nLaw No.\u00a031 of 1999 as amended and supplemented by Law No.\u00a020 of 2001 on\nthe Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption, in conjunction with\nArticle 55 paragraph (1) first of the Criminal Code.<\/p>",
