        "content": "<p>The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Habema Operations Command\n(Koops TNI Habema) successfully evacuated the body of PT AMA Air pilot\nNicholas F. Goselin, who was shot dead at Ipdeheik Airstrip in\nBalinggama Village, Sobaham District, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Pegunungan\nProvince, on Friday (3\/7\/2026). Goselin was a victim of an attack by the\nFree Papua Organisation (OPM).<\/p>\n<p>Head of the TNI Information Centre (Kapuspen) Brigadier General\nMuhammad Nas explained that, concurrently with the evacuation process,\nKoops TNI Habema personnel continued to conduct sweeping and pursuit\noperations against the perpetrators of the shooting and aircraft arson.\nHe stressed that Koops TNI Habema launched a Special Rapid Seizure\nOperation to control and secure the airstrip as an entry point for\nassistance.<\/p>\n<p>They simultaneously carried out tactical search and rescue (SAR) to\nevacuate the victim and ensure the safety of the community around the\nlocation. \u201cThe operation involved 10 Koops TNI Habema personnel\nsupported by two Caracal helicopters and was executed swiftly,\nmeasurably, and in a coordinated manner, given the mountainous terrain\nwith a high level of difficulty,\u201d Nas said in a press release in Jakarta\non Friday (3\/7\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>Nas affirmed that the TNI will continue to optimise security in the\nregion and support tactical measures against the perpetrators.\nCurrently, he said, Koops TNI Habema personnel have moved quickly to\ncarry out a special operation to secure the location and evacuate the\nvictim.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe TNI will continue to synergise with all relevant elements in\nmaintaining security stability, protecting the community, and supporting\nthe law enforcement process against the perpetrators in accordance with\napplicable regulations,\u201d Nas stated.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Commander of Koops TNI Habema Brigadier General Riyanto also\nexpressed condolences over the death of the American pilot for PT AMA\nAir. He further emphasised Koops TNI Habema\u2019s commitment to maintaining\nsecurity in the Papua region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe extend our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased. Our\npriority is to rescue victims, secure the location, protect the\ncommunity, and support the law enforcement process against the\nperpetrators. Through the Special Rapid Seizure Operation and Tactical\nSAR, we ensure the evacuation process can be carried out quickly,\nsafely, and professionally,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Riyanto explained that the operation to secure the location and\npursue the perpetrators is still ongoing.
