The TNI Habema Regional Command (Koops TNI Habema) carried out a\nhumanitarian operation by evacuating a local resident in need of\nemergency medical assistance in the Ugimba area, Intan Jaya Regency,\nCentral Papua, on Sunday (9\/8\/2026). The swift action was taken because\nthe resident\u2019s location was far from settlements and difficult to reach\nby land.<\/p>\n
The resident was discovered while Koops TNI Habema personnel were\nconducting routine patrols and area monitoring. Realising that the\nresident required immediate treatment, soldiers on the ground decided to\ncarry out an air evacuation to ensure the resident\u2019s safety.<\/p>\n
The rescue mission was not without challenges. The Ugimba area is\nknown for its difficult geography, extreme weather changes and a dynamic\nsecurity situation. In that area, the activities of the OPM group Kodap\nVIII\/Kemabu led by Guspi Waker remain a serious concern because they\nfrequently cause unrest and carry out attacks against security\nforces.<\/p>\n
To speed up the rescue amid limited access, Koops TNI Habema deployed\nair assets and trained personnel. The Head of Information for Koops TNI\nHabema, M.
