Jakarta - A member of the DPR\u2019s Commission I, TB Hasanuddin, has\nrequested that TNI Headquarters conduct a comprehensive evaluation\nfollowing the death of Praka Farizal Rhomadhon from the Garuda\nContingent Task Force in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon\n(UNIFIL), who was killed in an Israeli attack in Lebanon.<\/p>\n
TB Hasanuddin believes that the security systems and operational\nprocedures for all Garuda Contingent personnel in conflict areas must be\nevaluated.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe evaluation must include reviewing monitoring post positions to\nplace them in safer zones, enhancing physical protection at bases, and\ntightening standard operating procedures during armed contacts in the\nduty area,\u201d TB Hasanuddin told Kompas.com on Monday (30\/3\/2026).<\/p>\n
Moreover, he stated, the safety of soldiers must be the top\npriority.<\/p>\n
The retired TNI Major General further urged the government to respond\nto this incident seriously, focusing on two main aspects: investigation\nand mitigation.<\/p>\n
He called for a thorough, transparent, and independent\ninvestigation.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe investigation focus must determine whether the attack was an\nunintended impact of conflict escalation or a violation of international\nlaw in the form of a deliberate attack on peacekeeping personnel,\u201d said\nTB Hasanuddin.<\/p>\n
He continued that Indonesia must also assert that attacks on UN\nattributes and personnel constitute war crimes that must be followed up\nwith full accountability from the responsible parties.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Foreign Ministry must conduct tight monitoring of every stage of\nthe UNIFIL investigation, from evidence collection in the field, data\nanalysis, to event chronology verification. The Foreign Ministry must\nalso ensure that the rights of the fallen and injured soldiers are\nfulfilled, and continue to apply diplomatic pressure so that the\ninvestigation process is completed thoroughly,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
It is known that one soldier from the TNI Garuda Contingent Task\nForce in the UNIFIL mission was killed in the Israeli attack on Lebanon,\nwhile three other soldiers were injured in the incident.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are casualties from TNI soldiers, namely 1 person deceased, 1\nin serious condition with injuries, and 2 with minor injuries,\u201d said the\nHead of Information for the Ministry of Defence Secretariat General,\nBrigadier General TNI Rico Ricardo Sirait, to Kompas.com on Monday\n(30\/3\/2026).<\/p>\n
Rico assured that so far, the injured casualties have received\nmedical treatment.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, Rico confirmed that this incident occurred amid\nartillery exchanges from both sides.<\/p>\n
