TNI should attack separatists<\/p>\n

Recently, the Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander Gen.
\nEndriartono was angered by the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) for what
\nhe said were frequent violations of the Indonesia-GAM peace
\naccord. Also, recently the Free Papua Organization attacked and
\nrobbed the arsenal of the Jayawijaya military district command
\npost near Jayapura and got away with dozens of rifles and
\nammunition. Army Chief of Staff Gen. Ryamizard Ryacudu promptly
\nordered the stamping out of all acts of separatism.<\/p>\n
It seems that such developments have taken place within a
\ngrand scenario, so that it is not enough to handle them only by
\nmaking strong statements or bluffing. The TNI should exercise its
\npower more extensively and take stern measures against all armed
\nseparatist movements. Otherwise, it may be accused of allowing
\nthose groups to fester.<\/p>\n
Therefore, TNI's strong remarks should be followed up with
\nmassive attacks like the ones launched by the coalition (U.S. et
\nal) forces on Iraq, because such moves are permissible within a
\nsovereign state, at least to stop provocative acts for the
\nmaintenance of domestic security.<\/p>\n
