The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) has stated that the\nsoldier who fell during the peacekeeping mission in Lebanon is currently\nin the process of being repatriated to Indonesia. Head of the TNI\nHeadquarters Information Centre, Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, said the fallen\nsoldier was Corporal (Praka) Farizal Rhomadhon, a member of Task Force\nMechanised Battalion XXIII-S participating in the United Nations Interim\nForce in Lebanon (UNIFIL) mission. \u201cThe body is laid to rest at the East\nSector Headquarters (HQ) of UNIFIL while awaiting the completion of\nrepatriation administration facilitated by the Embassy of the Republic\nof Indonesia in Beirut,\u201d Aulia said on Monday, 30 March 2026.<\/p>\n
The incident occurred in southern Lebanon, specifically near Adchit\nAl Qusayr, on Sunday, 29 March 2026. At that time, an attack took place\nbetween Israeli military and armed groups. The attack struck the\nposition of the Indonesian peacekeeping contingent near Adchit Al\nQusayr. In addition to one soldier killed, three others were injured,\nnamely Corporal Rico Pramudia with serious injuries, and Corporals Bayu\nPrakoso and Arif Kurniawan with minor injuries.<\/p>\n
Two soldiers with minor injuries have received treatment at the\nUNIFIL Level I hospital. The soldier with serious injuries has been\nevacuated by helicopter to St.\u00a0George Hospital in Beirut for further\ntreatment.<\/p>\n
Aulia said the incident occurred amid artillery exchanges in the area\nof operations. To date, it has not been determined which party directly\ncaused the incident. \u201cThe investigation process is still being conducted\nby UNIFIL,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
The TNI, he said, has increased vigilance for all personnel in\naccordance with the standard operating procedures of the UN peacekeeping\nmission. \u201cThe TNI continues to monitor developments on the ground and\nprepare contingency steps in line with the dynamics in the Lebanon Area\nof Operations,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) has called for an\ninvestigation into the incident that killed one TNI soldier. The call\nwas conveyed through an official statement posted on social media\nplatform X on Monday, 30 March 2026. \u201cIndonesia strongly condemns the\nincident and calls for a thorough and transparent investigation,\u201d the\nMinistry of Foreign Affairs statement read on Monday.<\/p>\n
In a separate occasion, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio\nGuterres also condemned the incident. Through a statement on platform X\non the same day, Guterres mentioned that an Indonesian peacekeeper was\nkilled in an event occurring amid hostilities between Israel and\nHezbollah.<\/p>\n
Guterres noted that one other Indonesian personnel suffered serious\ninjuries. He expressed condolences to the Indonesian nation,\nparticularly the victim\u2019s family, and hoped that the injured personnel\nwould recover soon.<\/p>\n
