However, the TNI has been\nclear that it will not be involved in law enforcement processes against\nthe perpetrators.<\/p>\n<p>TNI Spokesman Brigadier General Muhammad Nas stated that the approval\nis not a special operation order for eradicating street robberies.\nInstead, the TNI Commander has permitted military units to be present on\nthe ground to support the police.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no specific instruction from the TNI Commander for an\nanti-street robbery operation, but approving or permitting military\npersonnel to be present on the ground is part of efforts to assist the\npolice,\u201d Nas said.<\/p>\n<p>Nas emphasised that TNI personnel will not be involved in\napprehending, interrogating, or legally processing robbery suspects.\nTheir role is solely to help create a sense of security for communities\nin crime-prone areas.<\/p>\n<p>He added that coordination with the police will be strengthened to\nprevent overlapping jurisdictions during joint security operations on\nthe ground.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe TNI and police always coordinate and synergise according to\ntheir respective duties and authorities, ensuring operations remain\nwithin the bounds of applicable law,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Street Robberies Rampant in West Jakarta<\/p>\n<p>Street robberies have recently been reported to be rampant across\nseveral areas of Jakarta. West Jakarta has been highlighted as one\nregion with a high incidence of street crime.<\/p>\n<p>In response, the West Jakarta City Leadership Communication Forum\n(Forkopimko) plans to install additional surveillance cameras at\nhigh-risk robbery locations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first point is the provision of surveillance cameras at\nhigh-risk locations, which will be prepared independently, and we will\nalso urge all entities in West Jakarta to enhance CCTV security in their\nrespective areas, such as buildings, offices, business premises, and\nothers,\u201d said West Jakarta Mayor Iin Mutmainnah in Jakarta on Friday (22\nMay).<\/p>\n<p>Iin stated that her office will soon issue advisory letters to\ninstitutions and businesses in West Jakarta to install CCTV cameras.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will issue advisory letters as part of implementing directives\nfrom the Governor of Jakarta to strengthen security focus in the area,\u201d\nIin added.<\/p>",
