The TNI Headquarters, through the TNI Information Centre (Puspen\nTNI), has announced that the soldiers previously secured in relation to\nthe acid-throwing terror against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus have now\nbeen designated as suspects.<\/p>\n
There are four soldiers who were previously secured by the TNI\nMilitary Police Corps (Puspom TNI) in connection with the incident that\noccurred in mid-March.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe four perpetrators have been designated as suspects and have been\nundergoing detention at the military detention facility (Maximum\nSecurity) of the Jakarta Military Region Command (Pomdam Jaya) Guntur\nsince 18 March 2026,\u201d stated TNI Information Centre Chief Major General\nAulia Dwi Nasrullah in a statement received on Tuesday (31 March)\nevening.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe article applied to the suspects is the assault article,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>\n
He explained that investigators from Puspom TNI had also attempted to\nobtain a statement from Andrie as a witness on 19 March.<\/p>\n
However, at that time, \u201cThe doctor had not permitted it due to health\nreasons.\u201d<\/p>\n
Subsequently, on 25 March 2026, Puspom TNI received a letter from the\nHead of the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) stating that\nwitness-victim Andrie Yunus is now under LPSK protection.<\/p>\n
On that basis, Aulia said that Puspom TNI has sent a letter to the\nLPSK Head regarding a request to obtain a statement from Andrie Yunus as\na witness-victim.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe TNI is committed to carrying out law enforcement processes in an\nopen, professional, and accountable manner,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Previously, Puspom secured four TNI members from the Strategic\nIntelligence Agency (BAIS) in connection with the acid-throwing terror\ncase against KontraS Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus, which occurred on\n12 March 2026.<\/p>\n
The four secured TNI members are Second Lieutenant SL, Captain NDP,\nSecond Lieutenant BHW, and Sergeant ES.<\/p>\n
Parliamentary Hearing<\/p>\n
Separately, today, the acid terror incident against Andrie Yunus, who\nis also the Deputy Coordinator of KontraS, was specifically discussed in\na General Hearing Meeting (RDPU) at House of Representatives Commission\nIII.<\/p>\n
In the meeting\u2019s conclusion, Commission III urged the authorities to\nuncover the intellectual actors. Today marks the third meeting related\nto the acid terror case.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo today\u2019s meeting is not final yet; we cannot make conclusions now,\nas it might be premature. But clearly, Commission III of the House of\nRepresentatives will hold a special plenary meeting regarding this\ncase,\u201d said Habib at the end of the meeting on Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n
In this third follow-up meeting, the PDIP and Democrat factions\nsupported the government in forming a Joint Fact-Finding Team (TGPF) to\nthoroughly investigate the acid terror case.<\/p>\n
Additionally, Member of Commission III from the Golkar Faction,\nretired Inspector General of Police Rikwanto, assessed that the handover\nof the case to Puspom TNI remains contradictory. However, he hopes that\nall parties continue to follow the case\u2019s developments.<\/p>\n
Moreover, recent suspicions of civilian involvement in the case have\nemerged. Thus, the possibility of connected trials between general\ncriminal courts and military courts remains open.<\/p>\n
\u201cI hope that KontraS and the Metro Police prepare research results\nand developments, to be used whenever needed, to clarify what happened,\u201d\nsaid Rikwanto.<\/p>\n
Member of Commission III from the PDIP Faction, Mercy Barends, views\nthe acid terror case against Andrie as a serious human rights violation.\nShe therefore questions the handover of the case to Puspom TNI.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn what basis was it then handed over? Whereas this attack case is\ntruly a serious criminal act and a serious human rights violation,\u201d\nMercy stated.<\/p>\n
PDIP, Mercy continued, views the law enforcement of Andrie\u2019s case as\na form of democracy enforcement. Because, according to her, democracy\nmust not tolerate terror.<\/p>\n
