The ownership dispute regarding TK Islam Pembangunan (TKIP) and SD\nIslam Pembangunan (SDIP) Pamulang, South Tangerang, remains unresolved.\nThe dispute involves the Syarif Hidayatullah Foundation (YSH) and the\nState Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta.<\/p>\n
The polemic between the foundation and UIN Jakarta has disrupted\nteaching and learning activities (KBM) at TKIP and SDIP. Parents of the\nstudents hope there will be no further physical confrontations, such as\nthe incident that occurred on 22 August.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat is our great hope as parents. To be honest, we are not too\nconcerned with who wins legally, whether it is the foundation or UIN;\nthe most important thing is that the resolution does not involve\nviolence or intimidation like yesterday,\u201d said Cindy Melody, a\nrepresentative of SDIP Pamulang parents, on Wednesday (2\/9\/2026).<\/p>\n
The dispute was triggered by mutual claims of ownership of TKIP and\nSDIP between the foundation and UIN Jakarta. These claims, which\ninvolved physical contact, also occurred on 4 June.<\/p>\n
Cindy noted that during that incident, students were undergoing\nexaminations when a large crowd arrived at the school, leading to\npushing and shoving that caused the school fence to collapse. Parents do\nnot want the students\u2019 psychological well-being to be affected by\nphysical conflict between the foundation and UIN Jakarta.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause the children are the ones directly impacted. They do not\nunderstand anything about land disputes or the status of state assets;\nall they know is that their school has suddenly become a frightening\nplace. That is difficult to recover from quickly,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The parents\u2019 association (OTM) wants the school to remain a safe\nspace for students to participate in learning activities. They are\nurging both parties to resolve the dispute without negatively impacting\nthe intellectual and psychological development of the students.<\/p>\n
\u201cTherefore, we from the OTM continue to push for both parties to sit\ndown together and resolve this through an elegant path, via formal legal\nchannels, as long as they do not bring non-official masses into the\nschool environment,\u201d she hoped.<\/p>\n
Representatives from the parents, YSH, and the UIN Jakarta-formed YSH\nheld a meeting on Monday (24\/8). During the meeting, it was agreed that\nthere would be a guarantee that teaching and learning would proceed\nsmoothly and that no unlawful acts would occur within the school\npremises.<\/p>\n
UIN Jakarta\u2019s Explanation<\/strong><\/p>\n UIN Jakarta stated that it is currently conducting asset\nrestructuring and the integration of several educational units based on\nthe mandate of the law on state financial management. However, UIN\nJakarta also committed to prioritising the rights of students amidst the\nongoing integration process.<\/p>\n UIN Jakarta\u2019s legal counsel, Alwanih, stated that one of the legal\nbases for the restructuring of assets and the integration of educational\nunits within the UIN Jakarta environment is Law (UU) Number 17 of 2003\nconcerning State Finance. Article 2, letter i of said law specifies that\nthe scope of state finance also includes the wealth of other parties\nobtained using facilities provided by the government.<\/p>\n The Rector of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Asep Saepudin Jahar,\nemphasised that the steps for restructuring and managing assets within\nthe scope of UIN Jakarta are part of the state mandate and institutional\nresponsibility as the Goods User Authority (KPB) within the Ministry of\nReligious Affairs (Kemenag). According to him, every policy implemented\nis directed towards ensuring that state assets are protected, managed\norderly, and utilised to the greatest extent for the interests of\neducation and public service.<\/p>\n \u201cAs long as I hold the mandate as Rector of UIN Syarif Huddin\nJakarta, I am responsible for guarding state assets, managing them\naccording to the rules, and ensuring their utilisation provides the\ngreatest benefit for the interests of education and the community,\u201d said\nAsep Saepudin, as seen on the UIN Jakarta website.<\/p>\n Prioritising Student Rights<\/strong><\/p>\n Meanwhile, the Vice Rector for General Administration, Imam Subchi,\nemphasised that the most important aspect of this restructuring process\nis ensuring the continuity of education for students. This is to be\nachieved by ensuring that all teaching and learning processes continue\norderly and provide certainty for students, parents, teachers, and\neducational staff.<\/p>\n \u201cOur main concern is the continuity of education. Asset and\ninstitutional restructuring must be carried out while ensuring that\nteaching and learning activities proceed well and that the interests of\nstudents are protected,\u201d stressed Imam.<\/p>\n Furthermore, Vice Rector Imam invited all parties, including the\npublic and the media, to view the issue holistically, objectively, and\nproportionally. \u201cWe also invite all parties, including the community and\nthe media, to view this issue in its entirety and proportionally. What\nwe are doing is fulfilling the state\u2019s responsibility to guard state\nassets while ensuring that the educational function continues to\noperate,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>",
