Tjetje, Norman still robbery suspects<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Police have not changed Tjetje Tadjudin and
\nNorman Lubis's status as suspects in the Jagorawi toll road fatal
\nrobbery even though Tjetje is dead and three other suspects have
\nbeen arrested.<\/p>\n
National Police Spokesman Brig. Gen. Nurfaizi said yesterday
\nTjetje and Norman's status had not yet been revoked as the first
\nsuspects in the robbery.<\/p>\n
\"It is not that simple to change the status of suspects or to
\nrehabilitate their names. While investigations are continuing
\neverything remains unchanged,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Tjetje and Norman's wives visited the National Commission on
\nHuman Rights over the arrest of their husbands. They also asked
\nthe commission to have the police rehabilitate their husbands'
\nnames.<\/p>\n
The robbery occurred on Oct. 11 last year when three
\nunidentified men, one with a gun, shot dead Zaenuddin Lesmana and
\nstole Rp 230 million (US$99,000).<\/p>\n
Tjetje and Norman, who were with Zaenuddin, escaped unhurt.<\/p>\n
They were taken to Bogor police soon after the shooting
\nfor questioning. They became suspects after interrogators alleged
\nthey were involved in the premeditated robbery.<\/p>\n
\"There must be strong evidence for Tjetje and Norman to be
\ndeclared suspects in the robbery. So, please wait for the final
\npolice investigation,\" Nurfaizi said.<\/p>\n
Police have so far arrested three suspects, IJA, Mc and AG and
\nare still hunting two main suspects Bud, alias Win, and Sal,
\nalias Is.<\/p>\n
The robbery re-enactment was conducted without the two main
\nsuspects.<\/p>\n
The robbery case made headlines in local newspapers after
\nTjetje was found dead in Bogor Police detention and a police
\nfirst lieutenant was sacked for torturing him.<\/p>\n
There were speculations that soldiers were involved in the
\nrobbery after police found an FN 45 gun bullet shell at the
\nscene soon after the shooting. The FN 45 is a gun used by the
