Tips to solve traffic jams<\/p>\n

As a new resident in Jakarta, I have noticed how passengers in
\nthe city are so submissive in the face of traffic jams that there
\nseems to be no innovation to solve the problem.<\/p>\n
It takes one to three hours to travel from Bekasi to the House
\nof Representatives building. Based on my first observation, the
\nsources of congestion are centered in areas around toll gates.<\/p>\n
On the roads near toll gates, various types of cars are packed
\nduring the same hours, including box vans, oil tankers, cattle
\ntrucks, buses and other heavy-duty vehicles.<\/p>\n
Therefore, travel hours should be arranged so that students
\nare scheduled for earliest trips, private and government
\nemployees follow later, while large and heavy-duty cars are
\nreserved for non-working hours or night trips.<\/p>\n
Roads leading to freeways should not be too close to toll
\ngates and the distance between one gate and another should not be
\nunnecessarily too short either, with the number of gates being
\nreduced.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the fairly big income derived from toll road
\noperation should also be spent on the construction of more
\nflyovers and underpasses to ease traffic congestion. In this way,
\ntoll roads will truly function as freeways instead of being
\njammed themselves.<\/p>\n
