A member of West Java's Provincial Legislative Commission has called on regional state-owned enterprises (BUMDs) to create more disability-friendly work environments and provide equal employment opportunities for workers with disabilities.

Tina Wiryawati, a member of Commission III of the West Java
Provincial Legislative Assembly (DPRD), has called on regional
state-owned enterprises (BUMDs) across West Java to create work
environments that are more welcoming to employees with disabilities. She
contends that equal employment opportunities for people with
disabilities are an essential component of achieving inclusive
development.

Wiryawati noted that several private companies in Bandung, such as
Matahari, have already demonstrated positive steps by opening up work
spaces that are more disability-friendly. She believes this approach
should serve as an example for regionally-owned enterprises across West
Java.

“Several private companies in Bandung have already provided space for
workers with disabilities to work. This is certainly good practice that
can be emulated by BUMDs in West Java,” Wiryawati said on Monday, 9
March 2026.

She explained that support for workers with disabilities extends
beyond simply creating job opportunities; it also requires ensuring
adequate supporting facilities in the work environment. This includes
wheelchair-accessible building entrances, easily accessible service
facilities, and working systems that provide equal opportunities for all
employees.

As a partner of BUMDs, Commission III continues to encourage regional
enterprises to look beyond profit and demonstrate social concern. One
way to do this is by creating broader opportunities for workers with
disabilities to contribute.

According to Wiryawati, BUMDs occupy a strategic position in setting
an example for other business sectors in implementing the principle of
equal employment opportunity. Through inclusive policies,
regionally-owned enterprises can become pioneers in creating work
environments that are open to all members of society.

“BUMDs must serve as an example of how companies can provide an
inclusive and disability-friendly workplace. In this way, people with
disabilities also have equal opportunities to develop and contribute,”
she said.

Wiryawati hopes that in the future, more companies—both private and
state-owned—will provide opportunities to workers with disabilities.
With such support, people with disabilities can participate more widely
in economic activity and development across West Java.
",
