        "content": "<p>A tourist from Garut Regency, Siti Atika (58), died after being swept\naway by large waves at Madasari Beach, Cimerak District, Pangandaran\nRegency, West Java, on Friday (15\/5\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>The unfortunate incident occurred in an area that had been designated\nas a danger zone and swimming was prohibited.<\/p>\n<p>The Acting Head of Public Relations of the Pangandaran Police, Aiptu\nYusdiana, confirmed the incident and stated that the victim\u2019s body had\nbeen handed over to the family.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the presence of warning signs, the group was quite close to\nthe shoreline.<\/p>\n<p>Madasari Beach is known for its strong waves and many large rocks, so\ncertain areas are categorised as no-go zones for swimming or being too\nclose to the waves.<\/p>\n<p>Unbeknownst to them, a large wave suddenly came and swept over the\narea where the victim was standing. In a matter of seconds, Siti Atika\nwas swept away by the wave into the middle of the sea.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe victim was carried away by the current to the middle. When there\nwas a receding current, the family and members of the Karang Taruna\n(youth organisation) were then able to provide assistance,\u201d explained\nAiptu Yusdiana.<\/p>\n<p>After being pulled to shore, the victim was immediately evacuated to\na community health centre for medical treatment. However, the victim\u2019s\ncondition was very critical. During the journey to the health facility,\nthe victim was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe died on the way.
