        "content": "<p>Time waits for Irianese pupils<\/p>\n<p>JAYAPURA, Irian Jaya: Many students from the Inpres Yomber<br>\npublic elementary school have wasted two years waiting for their<br>\nfinal exams that never materialized after their teachers \"fled\"<br>\nto Manokwari leaving the school building high and dry.<\/p>\n<p>The teachers, recruited from other areas, moved to seek better<br>\njobs because they reportedly could not stand the hard life in<br>\nisolated Yomber.<\/p>\n<p>Antara said the school was abandoned four years ago and that<br>\nManokwari regency officials were planning to check on it.<\/p>\n<p>The chairman of the Manokwari education and culture office,<br>\nSimon Leksi, said the government would do its best to rebuild the<br>\nschool and resume classes.<\/p>\n<p>\"If the school is left the way it is now, the disappointed<br>\npeople may do something that causes unrest,\" he said.
