        "content": "<p>Short video platform TikTok has stated its readiness to comply with\nGovernment Regulation Number 17 of 2025 on the Governance of Electronic\nSystem Operators in Child Protection (PP Tunas).<\/p>\n<p>The regulation, which officially takes effect today, requires digital\nplatforms to deactivate accounts belonging to child users under the age\nof 16 as part of efforts to strengthen child protection in the online\nworld.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTikTok is committed to complying with this regulation in accordance\nwith the transition period outlined in PP Tunas, including taking\ncompliance measures regarding accounts of teenagers under 16 years old\nafter the self-assessment process, and through close consultation with\nthe Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi),\u201d TikTok stated on\nits official website on Friday (27\/3\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>TikTok also assured that it will strive to be a safe platform for its\nusers, including teenagers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also use the most innovative technology to detect accounts that\nviolate the age limit policy, and suspend accounts identified as\nnon-compliant,\u201d TikTok said.<\/p>\n<p>TikTok stated that on its platform, teen accounts have more than 50\nautomatically enabled security, privacy, and safety settings.<\/p>\n<p>They said they will take the necessary steps in line with regulatory\nexpectations, while continuing to strengthen the security system.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will continue to engage constructively with Komdigi in the\nself-assessment process, and hope that this regulation will be\nimplemented fairly and consistently across all social media platforms,\u201d\nTikTok concluded.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister of Communication and Digital (Menkomdigi) stated that as\nof 27 March 2026, only four out of a total of eight platforms are\ncooperative and ready to comply with PP Tunas.<\/p>\n<p>The four platforms are X\/Twitter, Bigo Live, TikTok, and Roblox.<\/p>\n<p>Menkomdigi said that the X\/Twitter platform has reportedly aligned\nits community guidelines by changing the minimum user age to 16 years\nsince 17 March.<\/p>\n<p>Elon Musk\u2019s microblogging platform had previously requested an\nextension of time.
