        "content": "<p>KENDARI \u2014 The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) and Statistics\nIndonesia (BPS) have recognised three Sulawesi cities as top performers\nin reducing unemployment. The cities are Baubau, Kendari, and\nParepare.<\/p>\n<p>The three cities received their awards at the 2026 Regional Sulawesi\nBest Local Government Awards ceremony held at Hotel Claro in Kendari,\nSoutheast Sulawesi, on Friday, 29 May 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Baubau City claimed first place with a fiscal incentive of Rp 3\nbillion, Kendari City took second with Rp 2 billion, and Parepare City\nsecured third with Rp 1 billion.<\/p>\n<p>The awards were presented directly by BPS Chief Amalia Adininggar\nWidyasanti to the respective mayors.<\/p>\n<p>This success in maintaining workforce productivity is a crucial\nindicator for regional progress amid the demographic dividend\nchallenge.<\/p>\n<p>Under the theme \u2018Boosting Regional Economy and Reducing Stunting\u2019,\nthe event honoured local governments that successfully reduced\nunemployment through planned and sustainable initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>Evaluation criteria included planning quality, budgetary support, and\nlocal government innovations in employment that delivered effective,\nadaptive, and tangible solutions for communities.<\/p>\n<p>Similar ceremonies have previously been held for the Sumatra region\nin Palembang, South Sumatra; Kalimantan in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan;\nand Maluku-Nusa Tenggara in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).<\/p>\n<p>Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian stated that the 2026\nBest Local Government Awards are held regionally to provide\nopportunities for local governments with relatively modest regional\nbudgets (APBD).<\/p>\n<p>Through these fiscal incentives, the central government hopes local\nauthorities will strengthen employment programmes more aggressively\nwhile fostering healthy competition to support national economic\ndevelopment.<\/p>",
