        "content": "<p>Acting head of the Simeulue Tourism and Culture Office Zulfatah said\nin Simeulue on Thursday that the three languages are Devayan, Sigulai,\nand Simolol.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese three languages are the native languages of the people of\nSimeulue Island. Now, they have been officially registered as intangible\ncultural heritage,\u201d Zulfatah said.<\/p>\n<p>He said that besides these three languages, the Simeulue District\nadministration has been processing the submission of another native\nSimeulue language, Lekon, for designation as intangible cultural\nheritage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is one more language proposed as intangible cultural heritage,\nnamely Lekon. We hope Lekon will be designated as an intangible heritage\nlanguage,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Zulfatah said the district government is also working to have the\nthree already-designated languages included in the school\ncurriculum.<\/p>\n<p>He said the goal of including them in the curriculum is to preserve\nthe local languages, so that the native languages of the people of\nSimeulue Island can be passed down to future generations.<\/p>\n<p>Simeulue is the outermost island district in Aceh. Simeulue Island is\nlocated in the Indian Ocean, about 180 nautical miles from the western\ncoast of Sumatra.<\/p>\n<p>Simeulue District was formed from the division of West Aceh District\nin 1999.
