        "content": "<p>JAKARTA (ANTARA) \u2014 Police have arrested three robbers in the Palmerah\narea of West Jakarta who carried out criminal acts by posing as\nIndonesian National Police (Polri) officers.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Police Station Chief AKP Imam told reporters in Jakarta on\nMonday that the three men, identified by the initials D, M, and H, who\nwere known to operate in the S. Parman and K. S. Tubun areas, were\narrested on Tuesday, 19 May.<\/p>\n<p>Imam said the suspects\u2019 modus operandi involved cornering victims\nwhile they were driving, then claiming to be police officers and\nsearching their belongings. Victims, frightened, typically handed over\ntheir belongings, such as bags, to be searched by the suspects. Then, at\nthe opportune moment, the suspects fled the scene with the victims\u2019\nvaluables.<\/p>\n<p>Police launched a manhunt following reports of the crimes, leading to\nthe arrest of the three men on Tuesday, 19 May, at different\nlocations.<\/p>\n<p>During questioning, Imam said the suspects admitted to committing six\nsimilar crimes in the Palmerah area.<\/p>\n<p>In their operations, the suspects did not carry fake IDs or weapons.\n\u201cThe suspects merely threatened victims by pretending to be police,\nfeigning they had weapons when they did not,\u201d Imam said.<\/p>\n<p>The proceeds from their crimes were used by the suspects to cover\ndaily expenses.<\/p>\n<p>The suspects face charges under Article 479 of Law No.\u00a01 of 2023 on\nrobbery, which carries a maximum prison sentence of nine years.<\/p>",
