The High Prosecutor\u2019s Office of Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) has stated\nthat it has found evidence of money handover in a case involving the\nextortion by three rogue prosecutors against Imran, the Subdistrict Head\nof Pajo in Dompu Regency, while he was a suspect in an assault case.<\/p>\n
Assistant for Supervision at the NTB High Prosecutor\u2019s Office, I\nWayan Eka Widdyara, in Mataram on Tuesday, explained that this evidence\nof money handover now forms the basis for elevating the handling of the\ncase to the inspection stage.<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, there is (evidence of money handover). If there were no\nevidence, I wouldn\u2019t dare to escalate it to a case inspection,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Although he did not detail the form of the evidence, he assured that\nit has been corroborated by the confession of the Subdistrict Head of\nPajo.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo, indeed, this case initially involved a giver. The person who\nreported it became a witness, the giver admitted (to the handover of\nmoney), and during the examination (case inspection), they also\nconfessed,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Wayan Eka said that the series of case inspections is\ncurrently in the process of strengthening evidence. He noted that the\ncase inspection is limited to investigating disciplinary and ethical\nviolations by prosecutors.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf it\u2019s criminal, we don\u2019t handle it, because it\u2019s only about the\ncode of ethics,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n
He also explained that his office cannot impose sanctions if the case\ninspection reveals that the three rogue prosecutors have indeed violated\ndiscipline and ethics.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo, we only present it, and then the leadership in Jakarta (the\nAttorney General\u2019s Office of Indonesia) will conclude. Whether\npunishment is given and what the follow-up is, that\u2019s up to the centre,\u201d\nsaid Wayan Eka.<\/p>\n
The alleged extortion by the three rogue prosecutors emerged during\nthe execution of Imran\u2019s detention following a final court decision. At\nthat time, Imran claimed he was asked for tens of millions of rupiah by\nthe three rogue prosecutors who were then assigned to the Dompu District\nProsecutor\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n
