        "content": "<p>Three officers charged with buying stolen car<\/p>\n<p>Abdul Khalik, The Jakarta Post, Jakarta<\/p>\n<p>The Jakarta Police announced on Wednesday there was sufficient<br>\nevidence to charge three police officers with receiving a stolen<br>\nvehicle.<\/p>\n<p>West Jakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. Safaruddin said Chief<br>\nBrig. Samsi from the Semanan Police station in Tangerang and<br>\nChief Brig. Budi Utomo and Adj. First Insp. Endang from the Lebak<br>\nPolice precinct, also in Tangerang, had been detained since<br>\nTuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The officers were detained after police questioned four<br>\nsuspects in the robbery and murder of an Express Taxi driver in<br>\nlate October.<\/p>\n<p>\"We have sufficient evidence that the three officers purchased<br>\na stolen car from an auto theft ring. We have detained them for<br>\nfurther questioning,\" Safaruddin told The Jakarta Post.<\/p>\n<p>He said the officers would face dismissal and jail terms if<br>\nfound guilty of the crime.<\/p>\n<p>Safaruddin said the officers would be charged under Article<br>\n480 of the Criminal Code on buying stolen goods. The article<br>\ncarries a maximum punishment of four years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>On Oct. 28, a factory security guard in Cikupa, Tangerang,<br>\nfound an unidentified body. The body was buried in Legok,<br>\nTangerang, but the next day the family of Sarino, a driver in<br>\nExpress Taxi's Bintaro pool, identified the body from a photo.<br>\nSarino's body was exhumed and taken to Cipto Mangunkusumo General<br>\nHospital in Central Jakarta for an autopsy last Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, police said they had arrested four suspects in the<br>\nrobbery and murder. The four were identified as Cepi, alias Play,<br>\n21, Ropi, 21, Jubaedi, 21, and Dedi Hakeki, 30.<\/p>\n<p>Police said the suspects had admitted to robbing and killing<br>\nSarino before driving away in his taxi.<\/p>\n<p>All of the suspects will be charged under Article 365 of the<br>\nCriminal Code on murder in the commission of a robbery, which<br>\ncarries a maximum penalty of death.<\/p>\n<p>Hundreds of Express Taxi drivers demonstrated in front of the<br>\nWest Jakarta Police Headquarters on Monday to demand police<br>\ninvestigate allegations that several officers were involved in<br>\nthe robbery and murder.<\/p>\n<p>The police deny any officers were involved in Sarino's murder.<\/p>",
