Three more suspects arrested with links to Bali bombing<\/p>\n

The police have arrested three people who allegedly aided and
\nabetted Ali Imron, a main suspect in the Oct. 12 Bali blasts, and
\nconfiscated guns, bullets and explosive materials from the
\nsuspects.<\/p>\n
Guided by a confession from Ali, the police seized dozens of
\nguns and thousands of bullets during a raid on the three
\nsuspects' homes in the East Java regency of Lamongan on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The police seized six FN guns, four revolvers, six Magnum
\nhandguns, two other types of guns and more than 2,500 bullets of
\nvarious calibers from cleric Syachri's residence in Taman Prijen
\nvillage in Lamongan. Syachri teaches mathematics and physics at
\nthe nearby Al Islam Islamic boarding school.<\/p>\n
Some of the ammunition was manufactured by state-owned company
\nPT Pindad.<\/p>\n
The police also found six bags of potassium chlorate, weighing
\na total of 25 kilograms. Some potassium chlorate already had been
\nmixed with other chemicals.<\/p>\n
The spokesman for the investigating team, Sr. Comr. Zainuri
\nLubis, said the police also seized books on Jamaah Islamiyah and
\ninternational terrorism from Syachri's residence.<\/p>\n
The police also arrested carpenter Hamim Buchori for the
\nillegal possession of firearms and bullets. The suspect told
\nofficers he received the weapons from Ashari Dipokusumo.<\/p>\n
\"Ashari admitted that he received the guns from Ali Imron. His
\narrest also has something to do with his close ties with Ali
\nImron,\" Zainuri said, adding that the team was still searching
\nfor three of four guns belonging to Ali Imron.<\/p>\n
Ali Imron, along with Hutomo Pamungkas, alias Mubarok, was
\narrested at a house on an island off Samarinda, East Kalimantan,
\non Monday. During questioning by the Samarinda Police, he told
\nofficers that the three people arrested on Tuesday in East Java
\nwere in possession of numerous weapons.<\/p>\n
The Samarinda Police also arrested 11 other suspects in
\nconnection with the Bali blasts, which killed almost 200 people
\nand injured more than 300 others.<\/p>\n
Ali was arrested for the possession of weapons and for
\nsuspected involvement in the Bali blasts. Police believe he was
\nalso involved in a string of other bombings and is an
\naccomplished bomb maker. Police hope Ali will shed light on the
\ntypes of explosives used in the Bali bombings.<\/p>\n
Hutomo, who is believed to be the treasurer for the alleged
\nterrorist network behind the Bali blasts, is expected to reveal
\nwhere the financing for the bombings came from.<\/p>\n
The two main suspects, along with the 11 others who were
\narrested, will be transferred to Denpasar for further
\ninvestigation.<\/p>\n
Zainuri said the three suspects arrested on Tuesday could face
\njail sentences ranging from three years to 15 years for aiding
\nterrorists.<\/p>\n
Government regulation in lieu of Law No. 1\/2000 on terrorism
\nallows security authorities to arrest anybody who in any way aids
\nor abets criminals.<\/p>\n
\"The two will be facing charges of harboring criminals because
\nthey reported nothing to the police about the two suspects'
\nwhereabouts,\" he said.<\/p>",
