        "content": "<p>Three killed in Aceh latest violence<\/p>\n<p>BANDA ACEH, Aceh (JP): At least three people, including one<br>\npolice officer, died in the latest violence in Pidie and North<br>\nAceh regencies on Saturday, a police officer said.<\/p>\n<p>Police Deputy Chief Supt. Yatim Suyatmo of the Cinta Meunasah<br>\nspecial operation said one police officer, identified as Second<br>\nSgt. Hery Sutiono, was shot dead when alleged members of the Free<br>\nAceh Movement (GAM) ambushed a police convoy in Tong Pria<br>\nvillage, Mutiara district, Pidie regency on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>He added that a few hours later, in Blang Mangki village,<br>\nSimpang Tiga district, Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) officers<br>\nwere forced to shoot dead an alleged GAM member, identified as<br>\nKarmuddin, after he and his colleagues, who were at a food stall,<br>\nrefused a police order to stop for questioning.<\/p>\n<p>Separately, GAM spokesman in Pidie regency Abu Razak said on<br>\nSaturday evening that GAM were compelled to attack the Brimob<br>\nofficers in Tong Pria village in retaliation for a police raid on<br>\nthe GAM headquarters in Tiro subdistrict.<\/p>\n<p>Razak claimed that GAM had wounded six police officers in the<br>\nincident.<\/p>\n<p>\"It was a sort of punishment because they (the security<br>\nforces) have repeatedly violated the Humanitarian Pause by such<br>\nactions as raiding our headquarters,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>He questioned the police's mission in Blang Mangki village,<br>\nwhich had resulted in the death of Karmuddin and the arrest of<br>\nhis accomplices by the police.<\/p>\n<p>\"They were all unarmed civilians. What was the police's<br>\nmission exactly in attacking local residents at a food stall?\"<br>\nRazak said.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier on the same day, Suyatmo said, a homemade bomb<br>\nexploded in Kudrang village, Mila district, Pidie regency as a<br>\ntruckload of police was passing through the village on its way to<br>\nthe local police subprecinct office.<\/p>\n<p>\"No fatalities were reported, but the explosion damaged the<br>\nfront part of the truck,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>Suyatmo added that in North Aceh, the police also shot dead an<br>\nalleged GAM member, named Muhammad Isa, in Paloh Kayee Kuryet,<br>\nNisam district.<\/p>\n<p>However, the officer did not disclose the grounds for the<br>\nshooting of the alleged GAM member.<\/p>\n<p>Separately, North Aceh GAM commander Abu Sofyan Daud confirmed<br>\nthat one out of a total of 12 GAM guerrillas was shot dead in a<br>\ngunfight between GAM and the police, but claimed that the<br>\nguerrillas had killed at least six police officers.
