Three hurt as train rams bus<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): A Mayasari Bhakti bus (left photo) was hit by an
\neconomy-class train heading for Pasar Senen station at a railway
\ncrossing on Jl. Pramuka, Central Jakarta, yesterday, leaving at
\nleast three people seriously injured.<\/p>\n
The accident involving the Purwakarta-Jakarta train and the
\nbus plying the Kota-Pulo Gadung route occurred at about 6:30
\np.m., a witness said.<\/p>\n
\"Many of the bus passengers managed to get out of the bus on
\nseeing the oncoming train,\" the witness said.<\/p>\n
The ill-fated bus was at the tail end of a line of cars whose
\nway was blocked by a Metromini minibus which stopped to pick up
\npassengers near the crossing.<\/p>\n
The witnesses said the Mayasari bus could have avoided the
\ncrash if it had moved.<\/p>\n
\"It did not do so apparently because it also wanted to pick up
\npassengers there. But it was too slow. The barriers had already
\nclosed,\" the witness said.<\/p>\n
The bus, trapped on the crossing, was dragged about five
\nmeters.<\/p>\n
An angry mob attacked the Metromini they blamed for the
\naccident, smashing the windows. The driver escaped and
