Three executives of PT Bumi Arta Sedayu (BAS), a housing developer in\nKarawang Regency, West Java, have been immediately detained after being\nnamed suspects in an alleged corruption case involving the distribution\nof home ownership loans (KPR).<\/p>\n
The three individuals, identified by the initials VY, OH, and HH,\nwere held at the Karawang Correctional Institution following\ninterrogations by investigators from the Karawang District Attorney\u2019s\nOffice.<\/p>\n
The case is alleged to have caused state financial losses of\napproximately IDR 237 billion, stemming from credit disbursements to 445\ndebtors.<\/p>\n
\u201cBased on the results of the investigation, investigators have named\nthree suspects. All three are members of the leadership of PT BAS (Bumi\nArta Sedayu), which is a housing developer,\u201d said the Head of the\nKarawang District Attorney\u2019s Office, Dedy Irwan Virantama, in Karawang\non Friday, 4 September 2026.<\/p>\n
The designation of suspects and subsequent detention took place after\ninvestigators gathered hundreds of statements and pieces of evidence.\nDuring the investigation process, the Karawang District Attorney\u2019s\nOffice has interrogated 271 witnesses, including expert witnesses.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have examined 271 witnesses, including experts. We have also\ncollected 495 pieces of evidence, which include land certificate\ndocuments, electronic documents, and physical building documents,\u201d he\nstated.<\/p>\n
PT BAS is known to be a developer that received credit facilities\nfrom a state-owned bank for the construction of the Citra Swarna Grande\nand Kartika Residence housing estates in the Klari area, Karawang.<\/p>\n
Both projects were developed by PT BAS between 2021 and 2024. During\nthe investigation, authorities found indications of fictitious credit\napplications.<\/p>\n
These allegations arose from a pattern of mortgage applications that\nwere reportedly carried out systematically. The modus operandi included\nthe use of \u2018jockeys\u2019 or identity lending, data manipulation, and the\ncreation of forged documents to ensure credit applications were\napproved.<\/p>\n
These practices were allegedly carried out by the developer through a\nspecialised team tasked with handling mortgage applications.<\/p>\n
According to the State Financial Loss Calculation Report from the\nAudit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK RI), the temporary state\nloss has reached IDR 237,078,338,982.50, involving 445 debtors.<\/p>\n
In addition to VY, OH, and HH, investigators have actually named one\nother suspect, identified by the initials HJ.
