Three electrocuted in public minivan accident<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Three people were electrocuted and three others
\nsuffered light injuries on Wednesday after their public minivan
\nplunged into a ditch on Jl. Raya Bekasi, Ujung Menteng, Cakung,
\nEast Jakarta.<\/p>\n
East Jakarta Police chief of the traffic accident unit,
\nSecond. Insp. Khaerudin, identified the dead victims as Junias
\nGultom, 46, the driver of the minivan, Umamah, 49, and her 8-year
\nold daughter, who were both sitting in the front seat of the van.<\/p>\n
Witnesses said the public minivan was speeding from the
\ndirection of Pulogadung, East Jakarta, when another car suddenly
\novertook it.<\/p>\n
"The minivan driver looked startled and apparently lost
\ncontrol of the vehicle," a witness, Ari, said.<\/p>\n
The van hit an electricity pole before plunging into a 1.5-
\nmeter deep ditch on Jl. Raya Bekasi, at kilometer 21, right in
\nfront of the public transportation examination office.<\/p>\n
One of electricity wires fell on the van, apparently
\nelectrifying the van's body, a witness, Ari said.<\/p>\n
When trying to get out of his van, Junias Gultom, a resident
\nof Kayu Tinggi subdistrict, Cakung, touched the car's metal door
\nand was electrocuted, Ari added.<\/p>\n
Junias Gulton, former driver of state-owned city
\ntransportation company PPD, died on the scene.<\/p>\n
Ummamah, a resident of Sukalila subdistrict, Jatibarang, West
\nJava, was also electrocuted on the scene, he added.<\/p>\n
Khaeruddin confirmed that Junias Gultom and Ummamah died on
\nthe scene, while the eight-year old girl died at Bekasi General
\nHospital before receiving medical treatment.<\/p>\n
Three other passengers who had yet to be identified were also
\nsent to Bekasi Hospital for treatment. (01)<\/p>",
