Three dead in toll road accident<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: City police have taken into custody two people
\nfollowing a deadly accident that took place on Jl. Gatot Subroto,
\nSouth Jakarta in the eastward direction heading to Cawang
\ninterchange, East Jakarta on Sunday evening.<\/p>\n
The two being detained are Indonesian Ong Beng Song and her
\nSingaporean husband Way May Wan.<\/p>\n
Police said the couple tried to abscond after the accident but
\nlater turned themselves in to police.<\/p>\n
According to the police report, the accident occurred at about
\n10:30 p.m. in front of Hero Supermarket. Ong was driving an Isuzu
\nPanther minivan B 8505 TY and tried to overtake a bus from the
\nleft lane.<\/p>\n
Ong, however, was caught by surprise when she realized there
\nwas another car, a Toyota Corolla sedan B 1846 YC in front of the
\nbus. She lost control of her vehicle and slammed into the back of
\nthe sedan causing the sedan, driven by I Wayan S, to spin. The
\nimpact of the collision caused the sedan's fuel tank to explode.<\/p>\n
Wayan tried to help the three passengers get out of the rear
\nseat of the vehicle but to no avail. Yulidar, 30, Basuki Edi S,
\n50, and Ni Ketut, 40, died instantly.<\/p>\n
Wayan suffered minor head injuries while his wife, Juwarsih,
\nsustained burns to her face. --JP<\/p>",
