The state funeral will begin on\nWednesday night local time.<\/p>\n<p>Iran\u2019s Islamic Development Coordination Council, as reported by AFP\non Wednesday (4 March 2025), announced that the public would have an\nopportunity to pay final respects to Khamenei at the Imam Khomeini Grand\nMosque in Tehran.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018From 22:00 local time, worshippers may pay their final respects to\nthe martyr leader of the nation by visiting the Imam Khomeini Grand\nMosque,\u2019 the council said, quoted by IRNA.<\/p>\n<p>Head of Iran\u2019s Islamic Dawah Council, Hojjatoleslam Mahmoudi, urged\nMuslims to attend the farewell ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The prayer hall will receive visitors, and the public may attend and\nparticipate in the farewell ceremony, demonstrating a strong presence\nonce again,\u2019 Mahmoudi said in statements cited by state media and\nFrance24.<\/p>\n<p>The event will run for three days from Wednesday night, and the\nburial arrangements for Khamenei will be announced once everything has\nbeen prepared.<\/p>\n<p>Khamenei will be buried in his birthplace Mashhad, in northeastern\nIran.<\/p>\n<p>Khamenei, who led Iran for more than three decades, died at the age\nof 86 on Saturday (28 February local time), after the United States and\nIsrael launched coordinated strikes against Tehran and other areas of\nIran.<\/p>\n<p>Iranian authorities confirmed his death on Sunday (1 March local\ntime), and announced a 40-day period of mourning for the deceased.<\/p>",
