Three-day house renovation expo opens<\/p>\n
About 100 architects, interior designers, building contractors,
\nhouse developers and finance companies are participating in a
\nthree-day exhibition that opened on Friday at the Jakarta
\nConvention Center.<\/p>\n
Ella Harianto, communications manager of PT Panorama Convex
\nIndah, which is organizing the event, said the fourth annual
\nconvention was aimed at providing \"one-stop shopping\" for people
\nwishing to renovate their homes.<\/p>\n
\"Most visitors come to get free consultations on renovating
\ntheir houses, from planning to financing,\" she said after the
\nevent was officially opened by the Ministry of Industry's
\ndirector general for small and medium industries, Zainal Arifin.<\/p>\n
Organizers expect the number of visitors to increase to 40,000
\nfrom last year's 30,000.<\/p>\n
Ella said 40 percent of the participants were interior design
\nand architectural firms.<\/p>\n
\"There has been a 35 percent increase in event participation,\"
\nshe said.<\/p>\n
Makhfud Irfan, mortgage product division head at the
\nconvention's main sponsor, Bank Danamon, said the bank hoped to
\nmake Rp 30 billion (US$3.17 million) in transactions during the
\nevent for the financing of house constructions and renovations.
