The intensifying Middle East conflict between the United States and\nIsrael against Iran has prompted a stark warning from prominent American\nacademic, Professor Jeffrey Sachs. Citing a report from Russia Today\n(RT), Sachs asserts that only an alliance of three major global\npowers\u2014India, Russia, and China\u2014can stop the war\u2019s escalation before the\nworld is destroyed.<\/p>\n
Jeffrey Sachs, Director of the Center for Sustainable Development at\nColumbia University, shared his views on the New Order programme hosted\nby Afshin Rattansi. He believes the Middle East conflict must be stopped\nimmediately by what he calls the adult figures in the global political\nlandscape.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are only three adults in the world right now who can stop\nthis, and they must do it together,\u201d Sachs said on Tuesday\n(7\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n
Sachs explained that the figures in question are Indian Prime\nMinister Narendra Modi, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Russian\nPresident Vladimir Putin. According to him, they are leaders of the\nother three superpower nations in the world today, with significant\ninterests in maintaining global stability.<\/p>\n

In addition to highlighting the role of major powers, Sachs offered\nsharp criticism of the mindset of parts of Israel\u2019s political\nleadership. He even compared that thinking to thousands of years ago,\nwhich is no longer relevant to modern international law.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn my view, parts of Israel\u2019s political leadership are in a 6th\ncentury BC mentality,\u201d Sachs remarked.<\/p>\n
Sachs also emphasised that the BRICS group is the only reliable force\nwhen asked about Pakistan\u2019s efforts to mediate peace. He warned India\nnot to continue aligning with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu,\ngiven the humanitarian situation in the conflict area.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne should not be friends with Benjamin Netanyahu right now. India,\nas a great power and superpower, should not align itself with Israel,\nwhich has just committed genocide in Gaza,\u201d Sachs said.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Sachs criticised the diplomatic relations between New\nDelhi and Tel Aviv, which he considers offer no strategic benefits to\nthe Indian people. He urged the Indian government to boldly reject US\nforeign policy, which he views as a major mistake.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is not a friendship, strategic alliance, or partnership. It is\nnot in India\u2019s interests. India has the standing to say no to what I\ncall the American fantasy,\u201d Sachs explained.<\/p>\n
Sachs suggested that India take this diplomatic step collectively\nwith other BRICS members such as Russia, China, and Brazil. India\u2019s\nstatus as a major influencer in BRICS is seen as key capital for\nbecoming a global peace mediator.<\/p>\n
\u201cIndia has a primary reason to be a candidate for defending peace.\nSecond, it is not pleasant dealing with Donald Trump, so it is better to\ndo it together with partners,\u201d Sachs added.<\/p>\n
In concluding his statement, Sachs noted that the long history of\nrelations between India and Iran makes the country an ideal mediator. He\nalso mocked Western countries, which he considers vassal states fully\ncontrolled by Washington\u2019s interests.<\/p>\n
