        "content": "<p>Three cops hurt in mob attack<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: An angry mob turned on three policemen late on<br>\nTuesday after the officers intervened to stop the mob from<br>\nbeating an alleged pickpocket in front of the Christian<br>\nUniversity of Indonesia in East Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>The incident began when a mob surrounded and began beating<br>\nAsudungan Silalahi, 23, an employee of the Dewi Sri bus company,<br>\nwho was accused of picking the pocket of a bus passenger.<\/p>\n<p>The three officers, who were dining in a nearby food stall,<br>\nintervened to save Silalahi.<\/p>\n<p>Because the officers -- Second Brig. Ricky Roland, Second<br>\nBrig. Trinitas and Second Brig. Parlindungan -- were not wearing<br>\nuniforms, the mob apparently believed they were Silalahi's<br>\naccomplices.<\/p>\n<p>Silalahi and Trinitas received head injuries that required<br>\nstitches to close in the attack, while Roland and Parlindungan<br>\nsuffered minor injuries.<\/p>\n<p>The police are investigating the incident. -- JP<\/p>",
