Three emergency mosques built by Indonesia\u2019s National Zakat Agency\n(BAZNAS) are now being used by disaster-affected communities for Ramadan\nworship, including tarawih prayers.<\/p>\n
\u201cThree mosques have been completed \u2014 two in Aceh and one in North\nSumatra,\u201d said Anda, a staff member of BAZNAS\u2019s Disaster Division, when\ncontacted from Banda Aceh on Friday.<\/p>\n
Anda explained that the two emergency mosques built by BAZNAS in Aceh\nare located in Manyang Cut Village, Meureudu Sub-district, Pidie Jaya\nRegency, and in Sulum Village, Sekerak Sub-district, Aceh Tamiang\nRegency.<\/p>\n
A third emergency mosque was erected at the red earth camp in\nHutanabolon Village, Tukka, Central Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra. In\nWest Sumatra, no construction has been undertaken, with support limited\nto the provision of worship supplies.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe three mosques that have been built can each accommodate 200 to\n250 people and are fully equipped with clean water facilities and\nsanitation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He explained that disaster-affected communities have already been\nmaking use of the BAZNAS emergency mosques for Ramadan worship,\nincluding performing tarawih prayers.<\/p>\n
He added that BAZNAS\u2019s programme has so far focused solely on\nconstructing emergency mosques, with no renovation plans in place as\nyet.<\/p>\n
In addition to building places of worship, BAZNAS has also\ndistributed worship supplies to 200 mosques in Aceh, 65 mosques in North\nSumatra, and 85 mosques in West Sumatra.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe supplies distributed include worship equipment such as carpets,\ncopies of the Quran, prayer mats, mukena, and other items.
