East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Darmoko\nsaid his personnel have succeeded in opening access to three areas on\nFlores Island, NTT, which had been isolated due to the earthquake and\nlandslides. Inspector General Rudi said that once access was opened,\npersonnel immediately distributed aid and evacuated residents in need of\nassistance.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe three areas that were isolated have now had their access opened,\nbecause previously there were landslides,\u201d the police chief said, as\nreported by Antara on Monday (17\/8\/2026). Inspector General Rudi was\nresponding to questions regarding efforts by the National Police and\nrelated parties to open isolated routes in the earthquake-affected\nareas.<\/p>\n
The three areas that were isolated and have now had access reopened\nare North Lamba Leda District in East Manggarai Regency, the Reo area in\nManggarai Regency, and Dimpong Village, North Rahong District, Manggarai\nRegency.<\/p>\n
In North Lamba Leda District, East Manggarai Regency, police\npersonnel found residents in urgent need of assistance. Personnel also\nevacuated a pregnant woman who was experiencing bleeding due to\npremature labour.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlhamdulillah, she was able to be evacuated and taken to hospital.\nAlhamdulillah, she was able to be saved,\u201d the police chief said.<\/p>\n
In the Reo area of Manggarai Regency, the Manggarai Police Chief and\npersonnel opened access to the previously isolated area. After\nsuccessfully entering, officers distributed aid and set up emergency\nresponse posts and tents for affected communities.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, access to Dimpong Village, North Rahong District,\nManggarai Regency was also successfully breached. Information about the\ncondition of isolated residents in the area was initially received\nthrough social media. The NTT Regional Police then responded to the\nreport and dispatched Mobile Brigade (Brimob) personnel to the\nlocation.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlhamdulillah, they were able to evacuate the isolated residents\nthere who had not yet received aid. Alhamdulillah, they have been\nevacuated by Brimob,\u201d the police chief said.<\/p>\n
Inspector General Rudi said that the successful access to the three\nareas demonstrates the importance of speed in responding to public\nreports. He said that his team is still distributing aid to a number of\nareas that have not yet received assistance.<\/p>\n
