        "content": "<p>Thousands rally against U.S.<\/p>\n<p>Thousands of people from various Muslim organizations attend an<br>\nanti U.S.-rally at Bundaran Gladag in Surakarta, Central Java.<\/p>\n<p>During the rally on Saturday, some of the protesters unfurled<br>\nvarious anti-U.S. banners, while others bandied about an effigy<br>\nof U.S. President George W. Bush, which they eventually burned.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, in Surabaya, hundreds of people staged a noisy<br>\ndemonstration in front of the U.S. consulate in the city on<br>\nSaturday, in protest of any U.S. aggression in Iraq as well as<br>\nspeculation, by certain countries, that Indonesia was harboring<br>\nterrorists.<\/p>\n<p>Some 20 students from the East Java National Student Forum<br>\narrived at the consulate general to denounce what they consider<br>\nto be an imminent war in Iraq.<\/p>\n<p>Later on, they were joined by hundreds of fellow demonstrators<br>\nfrom the Indonesian Muslim Solidarity Front, who were angry that<br>\npeople from other countries had stated that some Muslim<br>\nterrorists were hiding or operating in Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>The protesters found that they were unable to meet with any<br>\nconsulate officials due to the fact that the office was closed on<br>\nweekends.<\/p>\n<p>Seemingly undeterred, they delivered speeches and held up<br>\ntheir anti-U.S. banners before marching to the governor's office.<br>\n-- Antara<\/p>",
