Trenggalek, East Java - More than 3,000 volunteers and partners of\nthe Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG), organised under the Free\nNutritious Meal (MBG) Partner Association of Trenggalek Regency, held a\npeaceful protest in front of the Trenggalek Regional House of\nRepresentatives (DPRD) building in East Java on Monday to voice their\nsupport for the programme\u2019s sustainability.<\/p>\n
The crowd, which gathered at the Pasar Pon Trengcalek courtyard,\nmarched towards the DPRD office under security escort. Carrying banners\nand posters, participants delivered orations expressing support for\nPresident Prabowo Subianto\u2019s priority programme, citing its widespread\nbenefits for the community.<\/p>\n
The protesters represented various elements within the MBG ecosystem,\nincluding SPPG managers, farmers, livestock breeders, fishermen, MSME\nowners, and volunteers. They argued that the MBG programme benefits not\nonly recipients such as school students, toddlers, pregnant women, and\nthe elderly, but also stimulates the regional economy by absorbing local\nproducts and creating jobs.<\/p>\n
Imam Waldi, Chairman of the Trenggalek MBG Partner Association,\nstated that the protest presented three primary demands. First, to\nsupport the continuity of the MBG programme while ensuring thorough\nevaluations to improve implementation quality. Second, to push for the\ncleansing of the programme from corruption and abuse of power, alongside\ntransparent law enforcement against violators. Third, to request greater\ninvolvement for MSMEs and local products within the MBG programme\u2019s\nsupply chain.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis action is a form of our support for President Prabowo\u2019s\nstrategic programme. This programme has proven to benefit many layers of\nsociety and needs to continue with various improvements,\u201d said Imam. He\nadded that the existence of the SPPG has created many new job\nopportunities while opening markets for local agricultural, livestock,\nand fishery products. Consequently, those directly benefiting from the\nprogramme hope that the MBG will continue and improve in the future.<\/p>\n
The aspirations received a positive response from the Trenggalek\nDPRD. The Chairman of the Trenggalek DPRD, Doding Rahmadi, who received\nthe group\u2019s representatives alongside other council members, stated that\nall demands would be forwarded to the central government.<\/p>\n
According to Doding, the substance of the community\u2019s demands aligns\nwith the DPRD\u2019s view: supporting the continuity of the MBG accompanied\nby thorough evaluation, the eradication of corrupt practices, and the\nstrengthening of the role of local products in its implementation.<\/p>\n
\u201cToday, we received aspirations from approximately 3,000 community\nmembers belonging to the MBG Partner Association. All aspirations will\nbe collected and followed up to be conveyed to the central government,\u201d\nhe said.<\/p>\n
He added that the Trenggalek DPRD had previously held audiences with\nvarious community elements, including students, regarding the governance\nof the MBG programme in the region. From those forums, several\nrecommendations emerged to strengthen oversight and improve the\nperformance of MBG task forces in the area.<\/p>\n
According to Doding, one issue of concern is the lack of a\nrepresentative office for the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) in\nTrenggalek. This situation makes it difficult for the public to access\ninformation or submit complaints regarding the programme\u2019s\nimplementation.<\/p>\n
