        "content": "<p>Jakarta, VIVA \u2013 Neighbouring country to Indonesia, Malaysia, is\nincreasing vigilance against potential disruptions in fuel supplies amid\nrising tensions in the Middle East, which are beginning to impact the\ninternational energy supply chain.<\/p>\n<p>Malaysia\u2019s Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir emphasised\nthat mid-year will be the most decisive phase for the country\u2019s energy\nresilience. \u201cJune and July will be a very critical period in ensuring\nfuel supplies are available,\u201d he stated, as quoted from The Star on\nMonday, 13 April 2026.<\/p>\n<p>He also stressed that not only fuel but also the availability of\nindustrial raw materials derived from oil and gas must be maintained.\n\u201cIt is equally important for industries to have sufficient raw material\nsupplies, including those from oil and gas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This statement comes amid government concerns over potential global\npressures on the energy sector, triggered by conflicts in major world\noil-producing regions.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had warned that Malaysia\ncould face fuel supply uncertainties starting in June, signalling\nincreased risks to the national energy sector.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, the government stated that supply conditions for April\nand May remain stable. However, the main challenges are expected to\nemerge after that period.<\/p>\n<p>The government is now taking strategic steps to anticipate risks,\nincluding diversifying energy supply sources and strengthening trade\nrelations with various international partners to maintain supply\nstability.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade Malaysia Fuziah\nSalleh conveyed that temporary disruptions at some fuel stations\noccurred due to increased demand in certain regions.
